Hi, I’m Tyler!

My pronouns are she/her/hers. I am a firm believer in clear communication, holding myself and others accountable for our actions without judgment or shame.

I am a certified trainer and graduate from the National K-9 School of Dog Trainers. I am specialized in obedience training, behavioral counseling, utility training, and puppy development.

Before I earned my official dog trainer certificate, I spent twenty years in the service industry, working at local businesses that have gifted me with so many sincere relationships with individual community members and their families.

I may have sold you a book at the Dusty Bookshelf, grilled your veggie melt at Round Corner Cheese & Salami Shoppe, stayed up too late watching your band play on the Replay patio, had in-depth conversations with you about sourcing specialty coffee, spoken with you about the science of writing with a fountain pen, convinced you to order cashews and avocado on your Rudy’s pizza, advocated for your kid at Girls Rock Camp, marched beside you at protests and pride parades, or made small-talk at our bus stop.

I am very fortunate to live here in Lawrence, Kansas.

Meet Derek!

Derek is a four-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier with just enough American Staffordshire Terrier, Labrador Retriever, and Rottweiler to keep things interesting. He came to my home with his brother, Doug, when they were just four weeks old through the Lawrence Humane Society fostering program. At ten weeks old, I decided to make Derek’s stay permanent, while Doug was adopted by a wonderful local family in Lawrence.

As luck would have it, Derek was the perfect age to join me at the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers in April 2021. He definitely gave me a real run for my money during the intensive three-week program in Columbus, Ohio.

Derek enjoys drinking lots of water, relaxing in his kennel, playdates with his friends, car rides, and chewing on toys.
